The United States may have thrashed China at the Olympics, but the Asian powerhouse has got its own back, with Miss China overcoming Californian beauty Claudine Book to win Miss World 2012.

In front of a home crowd, China's Yu Wenxia was crowned this year's Miss World at the international beauty pageant held today.Malibu-raised Book didn't even place, with Sophie Elizabeth Moulds of Wales coming first runner up and Australia's Jessica Michelle Kahawaty securing third place.

Facebook has started to test putting adverts directly into people's newsfeeds.The changes allow firms to target 'non fans' for the first time, and the feature is expected to eventually be forced on all users of the site if the test is deemed a success.

The latest plans are expected to anger users who believe the site already has too many ads.
